Wisdom, Practices, and Rituals around Death

About the Event

You are invited to join with Fairfield’s transition midwife Jennifer Hamilton and others from our community in learning wisdom, practices, and rituals around the transition of death.

Choose to either join us:

  • Saturday, Jan. 8, 10am-noon and 1:30-3:30, or

  • These two Saturday sessions plus 2 more hours of deepening on Sunday, Jan 9with a time frame to be chosen among those who register for this additional session (with Saturday attendance as prerequisite), or

  • Register to receive a video recording of the Saturday sessions to watch at home at your leisure.

Jennifer will describe, from her experience, the anatomy of the process of dying on the level of the energetic body and its relationship to the spirit as it is released from its relationship with the physical body.

Come learn

  • how the influence of prayer, meditation, energy work, and rituals allays the fear of death

  • the importance of cleansing and illuminating the chakras during the transitioning process

  • how to create sacred space and assist the luminous energy field release from the body after death

Jennifer Hamilton has been active as a transition midwife for 21 years.  After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of  Iowa in 1983, she worked in high risk obstetrics, then as an Ayurvedic  nurse and, for the past 12 years, primarily in end of life settings as a  private duty hospice nurse.

Versed in the beautiful traditions of Antyeshti, she performs the Vedic  rituals around death, dying and cremation. Jennifer embraces all  traditions and has successfully blended rites and rituals when requested  by clients and their families.

She has utilized chakra balancing techniques and meditation practices to  strengthen and support clients in their sacred journey. These  techniques have proved to be extremely helpful in relieving and reducing  pain/anxiety; uplifting the heart and spirit of the person in the  transition process.

This event is sponsored by Decorah’s Center for Belonging Folk School and will be held in a space that is spacious enough to hold participants in a way appropriate for covid times. Masks will be optional; unvaccinated people are asked to wear masks. If other conversations around needs/protocols are requested, we will engage them with an open heart and a can-do attitude!

Registration is offered on a sliding scale. Please offer whatever is both generous and affordable for you, helping to bring in what we need in order to reciprocate the gift of this teaching, the space use, and other matters.

Saturday only: $45-$100

Saturday and Sunday: $65-$160

Video: $45-$75

Options for registration:

You can sign up on this form and then pay via paypal here, or send a check to Center for Belonging, care of Liz Rog, 1591 Manawa Trail Rd.

Please pay by Jan. 1 so that we can know if we’ve collected the amount of money needed to reciprocate for this gift of learning.
